I have a fairly good idea of what you're trying to say. But, you and everybody else on this forum must realize that scientific names aren't perfect either. The best that can be said for them is that they're applied in some sort of systematic way that allows us to backtrack and ferret out their history and all their synonyms. Common names are applied willy-nilly. There is no paper trail except the cash that someone got for selling a "new species."

BTW, the new name for the king baboon is Pelinobius muticus Karsch, 1885. But are you ready for this? It's not a new name! It's the original name applied by Karsch in 1885. It went through several reclassifications, but was returned to its original name by Gallon in 2010. You can see an itemization and history of this species' naming by visiting The World Spider Catalog: THERAPHOSIDAE by Dr. Norman Platnick.

As far as learning and understanding scientific names, forget that the names are in pseudo-Latin. The best way is to simply learn everything by rote, just like you learned the spelling of most words. You can also learn the more common scientific/common name correlations if you wish the same way.

There are those of you who decry the use of common names, but you use them in your everyday lives all the time. The name you use on this forum is an alternate (i.e., common) name. You have formal, personal names and nicknames. While the thing I'm typing this on is a computer, all of you would instantly recognize it also as a "puter." While my pet Shelty (itself a common name for "Shetland Sheep dog") has a formal name of Princess something-or-another of someplace-or-another, she answers to "Tinker Belle" instead. And your mother undoubtedly has a formal name, but you still call her "Mom" or "Mum." Purists are very often hypocrites. (Nothing personal, I assure any of you. But, reality is what it is.)

And, the day will come when we will begin to use common names in earnest to describe the various color forms, varieties, and hybrids of the various captive bred populations of tarantulas just like we do with dog and cattle breeds. My advice is to accept the fact. Like "Judgement Day" (The Terminator series of movies), it's inevitable. "Resistance is futile." (Star Trek: First Contact, Next Generation, and Voyager.)

Deal with it.
