better yet than using latin or common names....a lady phoned me today and said she is looking for one of those blue tarantulas.......do i know where she may get...... wel i had to answer that i had a couple a yellow ones and a few red and lotsa browns....but sorry no blue!

learning the corect latin name from the beginning takes no more effort than learning the common name!! i just work on latin names and do not understand the common names or even the popular colours!!!

i would like to buy 2 blue ones and maybe 3 red and.......maybe a yellow/gold!!....arnt they ilegal?

i hear what u guys are saying im still new in learnin all the names thats why i try to learn both common and latin names. stupid example (latin) citharischius crawshayi....or orpelinobius muticus take note children 2 names NOW common name king baboon see no confusion. like i said im also still new in the hobby and still have alot to learn. so plss help me aswell as im confused...... i can also say that u guys probibly noticed aswell of a respected breeder/seller that uses the wrong spelling on his website to make it look like more excotic but ja the common name stayd the same so im confused

The point of using latin names, is because you then know exactly what spider you are talking about! That same spider may have in some cases more than 10 common names which really causes confusion. eg. Brachypelma Boehmei is known also as: Mexican Fireleg, Mexican Beauty, Mexican Rustleg... all being common names for B. Boehmei. So you see we should stick to the latin name to avoid confusion.
