Had to rehouse my Phormictopus cancerides tonigh. My first "big" and aggressive T. At 11cm, it (still unsexed) is a monster. Almost took a bite when I removed the water bowl. :S

Immediately logged onto the site, and found this thread. Did the HeteroScuderia toilet roll trick, worked like a charm. :woohoo:

Always make sure to use forceps or something long to hold the cardboard roll, I have had a few incidents where the T climbs ON instead of IN the roll, especially if you move to quickly or spook the T - so you don't want to be holding the roll in your hand.

But otherwise it works pretty well.

Just a quick Q while on the subject. Will these gloves that they use for operations in the doctors room work or are they a bit too thin?

with some of the T's that like to chomp on ure hand i use a spray bottle to fill up their water bowls. it has 2 settings on the nozzle.....spray or jet/stream. set it to jet/stream and it fills up the water dish quick and u dont have to stick ure hand in there and risk getting zapped. call me a pansy but it works for me. if i get bitten by any spider i can be in big trouble so i play it safe

The surgical gloves will help for the uitracting hairs, as for the bite it is thinner than your own skin so want protect you at all.

If you need to remove things get your self a 30cm pair of tongues.
This will save your fingers from getting tagged.
