Agreed. Not only unnatural but its been said many times, even in the Tarantula Guide that its completely useless. I prefer clear water and the pic Synergy posted as this months entry comes to mind.

I like to use Water gel because it just saves me time. I only need to replace it once a week unlike if I used water I would have to replace it everyday.

Fresh water sources vs. Water gels.

I had this same question when I first started out on the old forums.

I was told that there is no real danger in using the water gel over fresh water sources but is boils down to personal perference. Many keepers (I know Taki for one) use nothing but water gel without any adverse effects on their T's.

I personally prefer the fresh water approach over gel since I am not one to take unnecessary risks with the health of my T's. I like to play it safe and for me that means providing a fresh source of water rather than gel.

Agreed Masta_Splinta, i also prefer to only use fresh water.

I feed my slings twice a week so filling up the water of all my T's has become somewhat of routine. I also enjoy doing it as my T's seem to love the attention.

My N. chromatus always takes huge interest when I fill it's waterbowl. Often it will wander around and around the bowl for severl minutes before taking a drink of fresh water and then making it's way back to it's burrow. I think it's just a permanently hungry T always on the hunt for food :lol:
