I use a mixture of both.

In my arboreal cages I use the platic plants which I can glue or stick "up high" and real ones at the bottom. There is a hen-and-chicken in every one of my "permanent" enclosures (by "permanent" I mean there will be no more rehousing as the T has reached a size where I no longer need to increase the enclosure size) except my Avics.

The Avic's enclosure I like to keep moist and the hen-and-chicks don't do so well.

I "had" two hen-and-chicks in my LP's enclosure but he just bombarded them to shreds.

Ah ok, read up about the Hen and Chick now, seems like a very hardy plant that will survive just about anywhere. Can some of you post pics of how you have used them in your enclosures?

I mean do you use a pot or a basket, or do you plant it directly into the peat and let it do it's thing? Sorry for the laborious request, but would like to see how you guys use your live plants.

Then do any of you know the Jade or Money tree? It's a succulent that constantly drops little tips of itself on the ground, and also, wherever they land they do their best to root. I have learned that if you take a tiny rooted sapling, and plant it into the lid of a milk bottle or even the lid of a coke bottle, as long as the roots are small enough so they can be covered up with soil or peat, and gets watered once every week or two, it stays small and survives quite well indoors as long as it gets light. It is also very popular as a Bonzai tree.

Can this plant also work, or does it not give any humidity because it's a succulent, plants are not my strong point...

All succulents need plenty of light to survive and thrive in a rather dry environment. Both factors make them a poor choice for a T's enclosure and rather defy their purpose in the first place.

The best live plants will still be Chlorophytum, as it's totally non-toxic and hard to kill(many people have the solid green variant in their gardens!). The love palm (Kentia) seems to be also suitable.

Awesome, thanks Marula, will ask about these at the local Nursery. However should one not quarantine plants for a while as they may have been exposed to pesticides at the Nursery etc?

I have used Ophiopogon "mini" (Mini Mondo Grass) without any ill affects. They seem to grow good in artificial conditions. They might very well be exposed to pesticides, and it might be difficult to know what kind. If they used a spreader/sticker with the pesticides it might last up to a month on the plants, so watch out and be careful where you source your plants from.
