Just hear the glass lid drop when it can't get out completely. The problem doesn't go away, it gets worse :) So get a hinged enclosure that you can secure with a clasp.

Where can I get a decent enclosure from? I'm in Centurion. Remember, these are slings. I was planning on getting something a little more serious as they get older, or have something custom built.

Thanks

You can get an intermediate enclosure, not a problem for a small sling. Just make sure you have enough substrate to reduce risk of damage when falling from the side and make sure that it actually eats. Just put the food right in front of it.

You can attach hinges and clasps to any glass enclosure with some silicone. Saw some nice enclosures at Petstop before they burned down. Haven't been back since then.

Clasps and hinges are around R10 each, and silicone is cheap enough. Adding that will work 100%.

I have some perspex enclosures for most of mine that I bought from lunchbox. There is a thread on here about them. They work great.

My DIY skills are non-existant. I will have to shop around for something better. Especially if I get one of Scarab's M. Balfouris. For the time being though, I'll just have to be a little more careful with the fireleg I still have.

I personally use plastic atchar tubs with lids that fit quite tightly for small slings.
I then upgrade to screw lid plastic honey jars.
From there I upgrade to The Animal's glass tanks. These lids are movable, so I just use selotape to keep them shut. I make a point of making sure its secure after finding one of my horned baboon spiders cruising around the house. Twice. :)

LOL! It seems they really are escape artists! I have a glass jar that is about 10cm in diameter and 15cm high. Maybe I should relocate the fireleg.

Salmon slings can be hard to see. Scout around on your hands and knees and use a torch.
