Ok, so seeing the people are complaining that things are too quiet around here, I thought I'd re-introduce myself. Re-introduce because I was part of the original group that kept tarantulas before the existence of this website or any form of tarantula community in South Africa around 10 years ago. If I remember correctly I met Taki, Matt, Paul, Jacques and Mike on some of the reptile forums at that stage and we actually had meetings prior to creating the first tarantulas.co.za :spider:

At that stage it was virtually impossible to get tarantulas from a pet shop except for the two that specialised in exotics. A 1cm curly hair also cost around R450, so you can imagine what some of the more expensive ones priced at.

So my name is Jaco, but I noticed that Jaco's are taking over the place as usual, therefore I also respond well to Jakes. I have been keeping tarantulas for almost 10 years and had my fair share of breeding and selling at some point during that time. Due to life stuff and other crap my collection of 1500 tarantulas shrunk to a measly 5, but I think it is time to start growing the collection again.

Hopefully I'll be more active on the forum again and see you all around.

Welcome back. I know with life's crap & business it's sometimes very difficult.
Just thinking of myself that is.

Wish that we could retrieve the data from the first version of this forum & see if we could take it up a couple of notches again. As it is way different then back then.

As far as I know, I am the one and only Vanessa "contributing" to this forum.

I've only been keeping tarantulas for 1.5 years now (ONLY?!?! 1.5 years = still noobish!!)

My husband and brother-in-law dragged me (kicking and screaming) into this hobby (I am/was an arachnaphobe) and now I'm the one steering the tarantula boat in our family - go figure!

I've met some wonderful people inside & outside the forum and made a few friends along the way. I mainly keep to myself except where I can stir things up on a boring day uzi

Quite impressed with our collection thus far and I hope to build on that in the near future! We have about 60 tarantulas keeping us busy - they have their own little pantry with indoor heating!

I'm one of 2 Dirks that I am aware of on the forum but prefer to go as Kudu anyways. Fairly new here myself as I've now had my first T for 1 year, 4 months during which time the collection has grown to a meager total of 20.

Looking forward to seeing some new/old knowledge floating around the forum!

The missing legends return. So happy. Hope to learn a lot from you. I only have 3 T's, have to conform to the wife's rules. So don't worry about only having 5. Been keeping T's for 2 years. Still a N00B. Welc0me back
