Thanks for that link, I have filled out the CPB4 as im not 100% sure if there are any others i should apply for! Besides the CPB4 and a import livestock permit, what else would one need for captive bred slings? If anyone can help :)
Im sure there is a 100% legal way to import responsibly, for personal use maybe?

If all is not lost, where is it?

You will need A EIA (enviroment impact assement)just to name one thing you will need.

It sounds easy but you will need to do alot of work studies and so on and so forth.
Unless you buy some people out as coruption is maybe your key to get this sorted :)
If you got the money and time to do so then give it a try and if you make some head way I,m sure there will be people and members who will be willing to help you then!!

under the Environment Conservation Act of 1989 (Act 73 of 1989) a EIA is required for Farming or importing any plant or animal that has been declared a weed or alien invasive. How would i know if P.metallica is a invasive species? "Invasive alien species (IAS) are species whose introduction and/or spread outside their natural past or present distribution threatens biological diversity"

I can see its going to be a long month :P
i honestly would have thought its a exotic species :P

All I can say is good luck with this endeavor. Its nigh impossible to get one. But if you do then let us know so we can all be jealous :D

This is a pretty dangerous thread that got ressurected :P

Ja but thats some of the studies they will be required ,ok Maybe not the EIA but its more or less the same thing that will be needed.

Thats why it so dam hard to get things done you now you should talk and get youe self known with is Sa reptiles, Bush viper he has got plenty wealth and knowledge with regards to exotic species in SA .

But I dont think it will happen over night to get spiders imported into Sa legaly but you mite stand more chance to get our Tarantulas to be kept legaly in SA

But best of like.

Good luck.
You will need an EIA to prove to nature conservation that the species that you want to import is not invasive.
You will also need a reason to import the spiders.
Like I said, good luck. :)
