I'm not terribly convinced. The permits don't take captive breeding into account, and there seem to be hiccups with regards to what they cover. Assuming I manage to get a permit to keep Baboon spiders, I would also need to get a permit to buy and receive them as a gift. 3 permits to do one thing? Cerat is the only person I've seen who has a permit to keep, but if i were to try and get rid of an OBT that I got before the whole situation came to light on the forums, I would need to apply for a permit to give one away, a permit to transport them, and I'd need to make sure that the person that I'm giving it to has a permit to keep and a permit to receive? That's way too much red tape and certainly doesn't clarify the issues for newer members into the tarantula hobby... Does this mean should someone be discovered keeping one, the person confiscating it for later destruction would need permits to take it, transport it and keep it in detention?

Spoq, I have a strong suspicion that this is not the case - I think it's more likely that someone had very good intentions at a method of controlling and curbing the collection and sale of local fauna. The way government works on the other hand is mutually exclusive of any logical thought, and what we're landed with is the situation we currently have.. I'm surprised there isn't a stipulation for a permit to house the species too. Or to feed it. Both are equally logical, but completely irrelevant in my mind. That said, let's not give them any further ideas!

Lol once again I would like to agree with you :lol: Some implementations are just not thoroughly thought through...

It's like the law about minors kissing that was passed a while back... They way it was put together means that even if your were 16 and kissing on your parent property you would be braking the law. Which police officer would in there right mind enforce such a law?! :blink:

Anyway we can on and on and on but the fact is that if you are caught with one you have to pay the piper...
