Now it seems that I always have an issue with mold in arboreal sling enclosures.

I have a P. Formosa sling in a small glass arboreal enclosure. It had a piece of cork bark that developed white specks of mold. So I removed the cork bark and replaced it with new substrate and a piece of mopanie wood.

This morning I noticed fine hairs growing.

So being the resourceful guy I am. I have decided to use a piece of sponge as a replacement. Granted it won't look as nice. But then I can stop messing with the little guy and just let him/her be I spidey.

I will upload picks and an update later tonight

Not enough ventilation
Substrate to moist.

Then remove the sponge asap, sponge is worse than a bit of mold.
Sponge breed bacteria allot faster.

You can wash and scrub the piecies of wood/bark in hot water.

Thanks for the warning. I have not yet put the sponge in. So I will just scrub the piece of wood and replace it. Wil also dry out the peat a bit. Thanks for the info and the warning

But my substrate is streight out of the bag. No water added. And the little enclosure has a big vent on the top. I did wash the piece of wood in boiling water. And the other piece of the same wood in my P. Fasciata enclosure does not have an issue. Feel like I'm going mad. I don't want to put dry substrate in the formosa enclosure as it is still I sling.

I must find a happy medium. Feel like I such a bad T keeper

Don't put yourself down, at sometime or another we all battle or have issues with mold.

It is what happens, it is part of the hobby, when dealing with natural objects like wood, bark, peat and things that do not natural accure in a tank.

Top ventilation is not always suffcient, one needs cross ventilation or more ventilation.

But just wash your bark and see what come after that.

So far the new piece of wood I'm using hasn't started molding (touch wood). I basically took some wood from my garden, peeled the bark off, washed it, baked it, washed it again, baked it again, then took the dremel with the sander attachment, spent two hours sanding it, washed it yet again, baked it yet again and washed it once more. So far it seems fine (touch wood) so hopefully the hide I made for my Titus stigmurus will be fine too
