I'm rehousing my P fasciata communal this weekend and I was wondering when, or if even to split them up. Probably when the first one gets chowed.

then I got to wondering; has anyone ever heard of a pokie communal spanning some generations, like H incei or M balfouri?

I don't know as I'm only getting my first pokie, P fasciata, in June. But Uncle Charlie is a pokie man. He might know.

Noooooooo... dont know that yet. Will also one day post a similar thread asking the same thing. I guess one can always just leave it and see what happens.

For some reason I do think that the MF might just end up being the problem in such an experiment as I heard one of the members saying that the female pokie started eating the young... but then again that might have been P ornata and we all know that is not such an good idea to keep them communaly.

Thats the only input I can give as my P fasciata communal is still very young and I will only attempt my second pokie communal as of end of the month.

Please keep us posted with what you decide to do Marius and what the outcome is.

I have not seen or heard of a generational communal. Plenty people have tried and most only last until the female or females mature.

I still think one needs to have a larger tank for them.
One should have more success from this.

Based on just what I have observed I do agree... space could be the key here as the female generally stays close to her hide (correction welcome). So with enough space one can hope that the females will make their hides far apart enough. This is what I will be trying with full swing with my next communal. Plus the hunger games project might also answer this in the future.
