Thinks this is a baboon but not sure. What are their temperament and they do well in captivity.?

Illegal? How come? And also, would it be foolish to engage with them in any way whatsoever? Are they aggressive?

They are a protected species in South Africa.
And my not keep them with out a permit.

Rather don't hold or bug the spider to much.
They can be aggresive.
And they will bite.
Did you find the spider or was it given to you?

No he wasn't given to me. We live quite deep in the bush, and he was on the wall of my house yesterday morning when I went out to drink my coffee on the stoep.
