Any ideas on how to appease the government ? :deal Don't want to get sanctioned uzi and at this stage the colony is in-house - so need a way of masking the :reallysick: smell.

I have used scented p jelly on the top edge but this is not enough.

Any ideas on how to get their farts to smell like Channel No 5?

What roaches are they? My B dubia's and B lateralis have a faint odor but nothing that you would complain about.

Do you keep them on egg boxes? When last did you clean the tub?

Hi N - it's a mixed colony of B lateralis and hissers.

I started the colonies in about March with about 20 of each - was mixed since April - very slow growth rate at the beginning but now it's exploding.

Keeping them on egg cartons, the first set (cartons) lasted from April to end October when it started to smell. I changed it at the beginning of November but the smell is back within three weeks.

I have a colony of 3000+ Turks....I feed them oranges / apples daily and it does a great job of reducing the smell. Also used scented vaseline and that didn't help. Oranges work like a charm. Cut down on the cat food, it smell worst than the roaches...mine is on a mainly fruit and veg diet. I feed them cat food once or twice a week.

One thing I've noticed is fish food. It stinks!!!!! :sick:

They say tropical fish flakes are good for the roaches (but they neglect to say how bad it is for your nostrils)

How bad is the smell, because they will have a smell to them but I guess everyone's smell sensors are different.

Some questions.
Do you have ventilation?
Have you check for dead roaches? mainly hisser they can really stink when dead.

I think you need to separate the roaches, and focus only on one roach at a time, this will also help you to pin point which roach is the smelly one.
Also would suggest you clean your egg trays every 2 months or more, remove as much of the poo and dead roaches and food every other week and you should get rid of most of the smells.
