@Uncle Charlie. I have a sheet of glass over my heating pad to spread some of the heat, and a cotton rag over that to keep some of the heat. I use a 95L container to keep my roaches in. I don't use substrate, the only roaches I add substrate to is my Blaberus fusca's.

Gestation is about a month.

100%. The Dubai roaches are like the Hissers, as soon as they reach a certain colony size, then all of a sudden you will find yourself with so much roaches that you have no idea what to do with them all. Best advice, split the colony. Sell a few and buy more containers as the 95L containers I use cost R280+ and then you need more dry mix, and expensive stainless steel mesh etc etc

But I just sell most of my colonies off, once. So that it will take some time for the colony to recover. A year minimum. At that stage you would most probably also buy a few new roaches, just to keep your colony strong "blood line" but most will not. It all depends on you good luck and keep us all posted

wow this was informative... will have to get some more roaches, my last colony is extinct... think it might be because i kept it in the garage i don have a heat pad in it but think it maybe just got to cold... any one in the secunda area selling roaches/ roach colonies?
