Anyone ever had a mite infestation? Either in your T tank or live food?
Just curious how did you get rid of them.

I have had mites only once, in my Pin head growing tank.

I got rid of them but letting the tank dry out, I put it in the sun for 4 days to make sure they wore all died before I was the tank out.
I think the substrate I used for the adult crickets to lay there eggs got the mites, I had 3 containers of substrate for the eggs to be laid in so had a good couple of mites.

This topic has been discussed to death.... Your tank is too moist.

1) Remove the T
2) Sun The Tank or....
3) Use A hairdryer to dry the tank (do this outside... you don't want hairs and substrate blowing around in the house)(for glass tanks only! perspex will melt)or...
4) Dump the substrate wash the tank and add new substrate. or...
5) Add woodlice to your tank they feed on mites, keeping your tank clean.

I keep woodlice in all my tanks. T's don't mind them and they breed easily although slowly. When one tank has a breeding colony that's getting too large I move them to other T tanks.

Hi! Chuck the old stuff out and when you redo the cage, add some vermiculite to your peat moss and potting soil mix. Works like a bomb! I have pink toes and a Singapore blue that has to stay humid and i never have mite problems.

Nah,don't have problem.just found two very small white things that I suspect to be mites in the cricket container.killed them by pressing them with my finger.will rather remove crickets to bucket and wash and dry container and put them back.just wanted to know if it gets a problem how to tackle it.thanks
