Hi there all, thought i'd share this!
I stumble across this pic on the web just now and firstly I thought, that is a big T, what is it?! Says Goliath bird eater in the url but I have my doubts? Then I wondered if that T had actually killed this chicken to munch on? Cuz thats a lot of food...
Very awesome pic though!
The site that it was hosted on is now no longer available so any thoughts?! :)

Cheers

This is known as the Peru Chicken Spider or better known as the "Arane Pollito" to what the locals call it.Apparently this species was mistaken for the Pamphobeteus antinous, but no conclusive proof has been provided to assume that it is.

It may be a new species within the Pamphobeteus genus. This particular Tarantula has been known to be highly communual with offspring living in the same burrow as the female.

As far as I know, there is only one person in S.A. who has this Tarantula in her collection, and it would be interesting if she could provide some slings for the hobby.

It's claimed that this species could be able to attaine roughly the same size as the Theraphosa's.But it still needs to be proven that they can grow to a size that large.

Don't waste my time!

I'd be surprised if there was news about them hunting large prey like a pack of wolves. That would really be something amasing to see.

i did read up on it a little bit, and since they live together in a burrow they do hunt in packs. but then again they are also so damn big its easy i guess to take out a little chicken on its own.
very amazing indeed!! would never have thought.
