Do you put on extra heat, or how do you regulate the heat required?

I just leave the incubator beside the mothers tank so if it is beside a heat mat then it has a heat mat and if it is just on a shelf with no additional heat then that is what the incubator gets. The way i see it is if the mother is happy to make a sac at that temperature then the eggs should develop just fine at the same temps.
