Maybe they like increased humidity created by condensation from the hot water... who knows. But they do seem to fall into empty bath tubs a lot. I guess that's just something they can't escape from.

The early bird gets the worm... but the early worm gets eaten by a bird.

Most spider you find in your bath are there cause of the water, hunting or just on the search for a mate.
The reason why you find them in the bath, is due to the bath surfaces being smooth and slippery and they can't climb out, unless you have adult arboreal that gets enough speed inthe bath to go up and over, or a mature Male H. lividum .

I'm sure if the spiders could climb out they would.
If you leave the bath long enough you not only have spiders but bugs and creepy crawlies in it.
