I must say I love my Rosies. I've got six little ones and they are all different. Easy to keep (feed them or not), and unpredictable. I wouldn't want to keep Rosies as my only T's though, as there are times you have to put them on the back of the shelf and wait till something happens again. Most of the time I just replace their water.

Mine rarely go on hunger strike as I don't feed them till they pop. When they look round and fat, I stop feeding them for a while, and if I do so, it's only small food items.

I suppose it all depends on the keeper's temperament. You probably need to be kind of laid back to appreciate a Rosie B)

Ahh G. roseas yip you all 100% correct
well ive got a female (NFC) bought
her at the expo 2008 so no idea when
she last molted
She was on a hunger strike for 9 months
I mated her in 2009 in February and
Produced an egg sac in December
Then i mated her in March 2010
And in all this time up until now
she has not molted yet more than
two years, but she is as
docile as you can get
My other 3 (RFC)
never went on a hunger strike
and they are very docile

I've you don't stand for something you will fall for anything

I had a rosie once  ,... yes, my first spider.
She would burrow herself for months on end and off course
diet like a supermodel.

The first time my rosie went "missing" I dug her out. "This is nonsense"
I'd told my hubby, and also my impatient nature required such an action.
(A rosie is probably the last species I should have bought). Then I left
her for months after she went "missing" again. Finally, after I just couldn't
take it anymore (5 months underground) I dug her out. I think she gave up after
that because she never tried it again!! :P

Oh, she grew in millimetres per molt, it would really have taken her 10 years
to reach maturity!

Thanks a mil for all the replies and personal experiences everyone... eye opening stuff. I'm still really happy with the T, I guess there's no real need for her to be docile - If I wanted that I'd have bought a lapdog :). Will just give her some peace and quiet.

We have two Rosies, Both of them are kinda doctile, but more like skidish....They absolutely hate any light. If their cages are colder then usual, they sit in their hole and would not even come out to eat. But as soon as the temp goes up, like the sunny days now, they don’t even borrow anymore, they mostly sit on the glass..

I must say that we have never had a hunger strike for more than a month... So I guess we are lucky. The only time they went on a hunger strike is right before they shed.

There is one thing that I did notice.. If my two T's get p***ed off, they do not rise their front legs on both sides, like most T's, but only on one side, so the T's stand like skew. Will post a pic, the pic is actually in the T's keepers guide. it is actually very funny to see. :) Then as anyone can guess, we just leave them in peace...
