Very pretty, Frootie :)

I was also wondering about the height of the tank, and two more things.

H. gigas love to hide beneath items when submerged under water, so maybe add a root or some stone ornaments in the water compartment.

A good idea might also be to arrange something that goes across the water surface, as this is also a preferred outlook for them.

And thirdly, judging from my H. gigas experiences, they unfortunately might throw all the substrate into the water, creating a huge swamp from everything

Scarab wrote: When we designed this enclosure, we took many things into consideration. Firstly, H gigas are burrowers, so the substrate is about 20cm deep. Secondly, they are known to hunt under water, so we included a water well which will be stocked with a variety of fishes like Snoek and Sardine. Then thirdly, we learnt from a reliable source in Usbeckistan that H gigas will sometimes take to the air in search of Bats. These flights normally occur at dusk when the Bats come out to feed. We made the enclosure this high to accommodate short flights at dusk, although we will not be adding any bats, they crap to much...

Brilliant! I love the research that went into this one ;)

Thanks guys. :)

I will keep a close eye on the gigas, although I don't foresee a problem with the height. I haven't had a t
falling from the top ...yet.

As for adding stuff to the water well, I'll definitely do that. Thanks Marula

I also considered the swampy outcome of my water well. I think I'll plant a nice, big, venus flytrap to guard the well,
it'll sure give the gigas female's butt a good smack if she start dumping! :silly:

That's simply awesome! Very nice.

Lol, good luck with that, Frooty!!!

I'l also try my hand on a second design draft after utter failure with the first one on my juvie gigas  But I'd like to find a MM H. gigas first.
