At long last the enclosure is finished!

It is a glass enclosure with a vent in the lid. It measures 400mm x 400mm x 500mm with a water well
at the front. A perforated pipe (air curtain) is covered by gravel at the bottom of the well. The air pump
that's connected to the air curtain, is fixed to the wall to keep the shelve free from vibrations.

Firstly, we covered the inside panel of the water well with silicon.

Then we covered the silicon with washed pebbles and sand.

I washed the plants and rinsed the soil from the roots of the water plant.
It was repotted in palmpeat. I then added substrate, bark, rocks and plants to the enclosure.

If you can't move the enclosure by yourself, you'll need a strong Luvi to do it for you ;)

And then, the end product,...just add water, and in a while, a mated H.gigas female.

Plants I used:

Asparagus Plumosus
Evergreen, Creeper, Hardy, Sun/Shade
Size - 12.5cm

Acorus Gram/Golden Edge
Evergreen, Hardy, Sun/Semi-Shade
Can be used as a waterplant
Size - 20cm

When we designed this enclosure, we took many things into consideration. Firstly, H gigas are burrowers, so the substrate is about 20cm deep. Secondly, they are known to hunt under water, so we included a water well which will be stocked with a variety of fishes like Snoek and Sardine. Then thirdly, we learnt from a reliable source in Usbeckistan that H gigas will sometimes take to the air in search of Bats. These flights normally occur at dusk when the Bats come out to feed. We made the enclosure this high to accommodate short flights at dusk, although we will not be adding any bats, they crap to much...

Most people are like clouds. The sun comes out when they f*ck off...
