Just to give background how this came to be.
Our cat had a serious infection from fighting. All shops, vets closed i had to do a makeshift disinfectent. of the wound late saterday night.I drained the abscess on the cats neck, squeezing out thick puss buildup and generally nasty stuff. Unable to get normal disinfectant into the deep wound i threw alcohol / surgical spirits into my spray bottle, diluted it with water.

This helped the cat. Wound is now healing nicely.
However... do no mention details of "do not use this spray bottle" when your wife is half asleep.

If I read in between the lines, the spray bottle that gets used to mist the spider, was the solution to help the cat out, and the wife woke up and decided to mist the spider, with out realizing that the spray bottle had Syrgical Spirits in, a pure accident.


As Scarab suggested, it wont do anything bad to your spider to mist directly on the spider, wont like it though but it got to live with it.

Got her / him around 2003 when it was about 0.3cm's. Tiny little see through yellow thing hiding under sand pebbles.

Guys correct me if I'm wrong, but if a Chromatus is that old it is without a doubt female since a male would've matured and passed away long time ago.

Hope she survive and by the sound of it she is doing better. However she might have a huge hangover.

She is looking ok now.
Checked up on her just now, moving normally again.
Will keep her in ICU until tonight just to make sure.

I did mist her a few times just to wash off execs surgical spirits.

And yes, cascade. Was an accident. Bit of neglect from my side.

I have done the same thing, just with crickets though.
I wiped out a good couple of hundred crickets, I used an old spray bottle, that I thought would be fine as long as it wash out out.

poor crickets.

Update : The alcohol had a major effect on my little buddy. Woke up this morning, checked on him as usual. Rubbed its abdomen to see how she behaves. The first time ever the spider slowly turned and then went into a threat posture.

Usually she just trots a few centimeters forward and if i keep bothering her she goes into her burrow. But now... she just wants to bite me

I hate alcohol abusers :laugh:
