First arboreal choice being poecilotheria might not be the brightest idea, especially if you do get bitten. Granted, if you are reasonably experienced in tarantula husbandry, I dont see to much of an issue.

IME, Psalmopoeus sp have been much more prone to prefer threat displays instead of flight, and much more prone to biting. My P Irminia have tagged me thrice, each time flying out of the enclosure, biting me, and flying back in. Pokies in general tend to run like hell, that's about it (although I have been tagged by P. Striata too due to my own stupidity with working with communal setups and not being cautious enough, and my MF P. Striata I acquired from Ruan tends to pose quite often too, asking for a good ol hug.)

And BTW, I have a 9cm P. Irminia for sale, the last of my new world tarantulas, for R450 or nearest offer. If you're interested, drop me an email, GBritz@twp.co.za.

Hmmm... Now this kind of thing would've been nice to see before I ordered the P Irminia Anyway it seems these little guys pretty much each have their own "personality" for lack of a better word.

I went with a slightly larger tank hoping that if the little guy has more space to run he might go for that option. Also I'm using a high tank so there's a good 10cm between the highest decoration and the opening.

Perhaps a little more interaction while he is still small might help to have him more comfortable with me poking around later?

@Ferretman, cool me too. If you do any sort of mountain biking then RSA is definately worth the visit!!!

You are absolutely spot on there mate. I personally have said on others posts in this forum, I think my P. Irminia is possessed, and if it's here with me I cannot fathom who is running hell at the moment. :evilgrin: Anyway, i have given up as the exorcist cannot exile the evil spirit, so I am looking to sell it.

That all being said, no spider is aggressive, they are defensive or skittish. I really don't know what's up with this P Irminia of mine, but it's more than likely my own fault. Psalmopoeus Irminia are beautiful tarantulas, and I don't think its a bad choice to start with regarding arboreal T's.

Well... he's arrived! Lively little guy too. Shot out the packing into his new home like a dart. I think I may have found my new favourite
