When I initially read this post by Cerat, I started joking around with the guys at the office about bringing some spiders to the office. they were the least bit impressed by this proposition saying things like " if you bring that thing near me I'll m@3r you boet!", or "dis reg ek Doom hom dan", " and " it will make a good long range shooting target".
Well today I decided to bring some despite the initial threats. Surprisingly, people were only reluctant at first. after the news spread, more and more people popped in to have a look. I brought a mature G.Rosea female, a juvie and a sling to show the guys the difference in appearance.
One guy showed so much interest, and kept asking questions and repeatedly said " jis dis cool", an older gentleman, that I decided to give all three of them to him as a good start-up in the hobby. Very chuffed he has placed it on his office desk now, sporting an ear to ear smile.
Ive sent him some care sheets and gave him some general info on their care.
I must say that's its personally extremely gratifying to see this person discover this new interest.
It seems that this inherent fear of spiders, snakes and whatnot is maybe due to the unknown, but i will make a point of it to get more people with genuine interest into this wonderful hobby.
