Another convertee.

This lady was on a trip with me when I was still a guide.
When she heard that I collected spiders, she told me she was terribly scared of them, but would like to overcome her fear.
On the trip I showed her tiny spiders that I collected and she would literally run away even though they were in sealed glass vials.
I tried collecting something that she could handle on the trip, but couldn't find anything, so when I got back to JHB after the trip and she informed me that she would be staying over for an extra night, I offered to drive through to her hotel the following morning with a spider to hold.

The only one that I could find to handle was my adult female A.junodi and a burrowing scorpion.
When she saw the spider and scorpion, she ran away and refused to come any closer. After a whole lot of convincing, she came closer and had a look at the spiders.
She then said that she would like to hold them. It must have taken about 10 minutes to get the spider on her hand and plenty of tears from her side. I had to calm her down a few times and ask if she really wanted to hold it.
Eventually she did and just sat there for a minute or so with her eyes closed, not wanting to look at the spider. She eventually opened her eyes and asked me to take a few pictures. On return to America, she sent the pics to her Mom and family in Germany and emailed my boss and told him about the whole story. After a 21 day trip through Botswana where she got to see the Big 7 and plenty of other things, the last day in JHB was her highlight.
Here are pics of the spider and her holding the spider and scorpion.
