Good evening fellow T lovers

I have just a general question and excuse me if it is a stupid question.

I would just like to know what is the best way (if any) to speed up the growth of your T's. I have a G. Rosea which I have for more than a year now. She stays the same size, rarely feeds and rarely molds! I know it is quite common for this specie and their growth rate is slow. I have some other babies that takes forever to grow, but if there is any way you can increase their growth rate, please inform me. I have heard about power feeding, but what exactly do you have to do to be save without causing damage to your T's

You know the old saying; you can take a T to crickets but you cant make them eat?
There's only so much one can do with these strange and wonderful things and at the end of the day, if the spider doesn't wanna eat you can stand on your head and whistle "play that funky music white boy", it wont eat.

The G. rosea is probably the fussiest T in the hobby when it comes to eating and growth rate.

In theory you keep the spider warm to speed up the metabolism then feed to satiation to fuel the growth, reducing the length of the molt intervals.
But like Panama pointed out, satiation for a G rosea is not the same as for say L parahybana.

G.roseas tend to go on for long periods without eating ..

I have a g.rosea that hasn't eaten in over six months now..

It sounds a lot like you got the wrong kind of tarantula. There are a few, particularly some Old World kinds, that eat much more readily and grow faster. But they also die quicker. You can't have your spider and eat it too! Oh wait! That's CAKE! Sorry. I can be such a buffoon sometimes! :blush:
