This is a bit of a bummer for me, but I have been asked some rather tough questions about the color forms of the Chilean rose tarantula. Specifically, can I produce any actual proof that several color forms can arise from the same eggsac.

It turns out that my assertion that they do finds its origins in three verbal reports of more than 10 years ago. In the intervening time, I've lost contact with one person, another has moved on to other pursuits and only has a dim memory of what I'm talking about, and the third has died!

So, I need your help. I know that Grammostola rosea, or whatever passes for it in the pet industry, is bred rather commonly in South Africa. Can any of you who may have bred the species confirm that you have personally witnessed more than one color form arising from the same eggsac?

If you personally know anyone who has bred the species, could you please pass my E-mail addy (see the sig below) to them and ask them contact me?

And, while we're at it, what are the currently used and accepted acronyms for the various color forms (e.g., rcf, pcf, ncf, etc.)?

Well, I guess I always have that option. But, he's a good guy and those are valid questions that should be revisited and settled with "armed backup."

I have always been a little apprehensive about this hypothesis, but my sources were believable and there were more than one. But, now that I've been called on the topic, I need to put up or shut up.

SO, HOW ABOUT IT? CAN ANY OF YOU HELP "OOM STAN" OUT OF THIS FIX?
