Hi Guys and Ladies

I have acquired a new program with the name of reptitracker .S o far i like it as it covers quite a bit and is suitable for my use

Problem is I have been very slack and would like to keep a database of my T's , Had one but computer crashed an d have to do this all over again

I there a site where i can download a list of the scientific and common names of tarantulas, maybe some pics would be nice as well?

No pictures, but I've composed a list of scientific/common name correlations and even manage to find time to work on it every year or two. :blush:

Keeping abreast of scientific/common names is a never ending challenge with little or no actual purpose or justification because scientific names keeping changing , and there is no rhyme nor reason to the way that common names are created and applied.

In the 1980s the American Arachnological Society established a Common Names Committee that eventually published an "official" list of scientific/common name correlations , but it was heavily criticized and largely ignored. A few of us old dinosaurs still try to follow it, but we're fading fast.

If you search some of the other, larger arachnid forums you can find one or two others as well. Every once in a while someone tries to compile them into a master list, but the projects usually fade out before they're complete. Too much work with too little payback.

And the scientific/common name war rages on!

Maybe an exercise in futility ,but I do like to get it right, I am a full time teacher and have my own woodworking training academy, and for a long time was in a rut- earning a living and so on

Since I have started this Hobby a year and a half ago, my focus seems so much better and being in the 40's have found that my brain has also received a wake up call - remembering the scientific names and so on

So seeing that I am track I would like to stay that way!

My collection is still growing ,Have 220 T's currently , so it goes step by step !
