Was at the local Nursery this weekend and I saw for the first time the stuff called Vermiculite.
It looks so unnatural when compared to tanks filled with peat moss.
Which one would you prefer?
Most overseas guys say Vermiculite is the best because it doesn't cause mold growth in high humidity tanks but as mentioned it looks unnatural for a T tank.

A vermiculite only substrate is a no no! As it provides no structural integrity should the spider burrow et al.

Most people use coco peat, or sphagnum peat. Some mix slight amounts of vermiculite into this, but it is not a requirement.

I saw coco peat. Was thinking of that with the peat moss.
They sell those hanging baskets and have a coco peat lining that you then fill with potting soil mix and plant your stuff in. The coco peat can be bought separately. Think it will make nice natural T environment as in the jungles where they are found.

That coco peat that you saw that was lining the baskets in not the same stuff being discussed here. What you are looking for is a compressed coco peat brick. When you add water to it, it will soften to look like potting soil.
