I've commented this species before, but I'll say it again: It's a real beauty. I hope you succeed with breeding and spreading them to South African hobbyists Doug!

As a side note, the U. fischeri (both the dark and regular/light morph) being sold in Europe, is correctly ID'ed. I have been give information that they were ID'ed via DNA testing by Lorenzo Prendini, and that's about as good as it gets:)

Purely theoretically though, it isn't impossible that this species could be U. fischeri. One can't distinguish one species from another by looking at color differences. Many species exhibit vast intraspecific variation, making them look like completely different species. The genus Uroplectes is an especially tricky genus for us hobbyists when it comes to identifying new species. To correctly ID a species of Uroplectes, one would have to examine the specimen itself, as there are very subtle morphological features distinguishing them from one another, as well as very little available literature describing these keys. As this genus gets better explored via DNA research (currently done by L. Prendini I believe), there will most likely be several new species described.

I agree with Psychofox. I think only a proper DNA analysis and comparison will prove if it's new. But I must say Tanzania is quite far for it to be the same species, although it's not impossible. They do look very attractive Doug! Do you have a pair now?
