Taking into consideration scarab's chat in another thread, they are more co-habituating (If that's the correct word), so the less space, the better.
My communal of 9 fasciata's are in a tank of 15x15x25cm. Getting a bit small now, but will be rehousing soon into a slightly bigger enclosure.
The theory is that if they are given the opportunity to make their own "territories" then they get aggressive with each other, whereas if they are forced to interact, it reduces the in-fighting. Who knows if this is actually true though.
Search "communal" and look for a thread by mammon. He was in the process of trying a communal with a few different species.
As for the "communal" species this is what I have heard of:
Avicularia avicularia - Works sometimes and other times total failure
Hysterocrates gigas - Works great most of the time
Holothele incei - Works great
Monocentropus balfouri - Works great
Poecilotheria fasciata - Works great most of the time
Poecilotheria regalis - Works great most of the time
Poecilotheria striata - ? I have a communal, so will see how it goes. Know mammon had a communal too.
Poecilotheria metallica - Heard they work great
Poecilotheria formosa - Heard they work great, will be trying it soon.
Poecilotheria ornata - Had a communal of 8 that ended in 1 fat spider
Pterinochilus murinus - Heard they work great
Ceratogyrus brachycepahlus & darlingi - Have tried communal's till around 6th instar with little to no losses. Sure they are not very "communal" though.
Any other spiders that people have tried?
