Hello all.
I am a new member and new to spiders as well.

My youngest son is very much into insects and spiders and mom bought us all a curly hair tarantula, dumping us into the deep end as we know nothing about keeping them.
Thus I started reading about tarantulas and have become interested in them myself.

Currently we have only one curly hair, still young at about 6cm accross, named 'Spike' by our youngest.
We hope to share many happy observations with Spike.

Welcome to our forum and hope you learn alot from here. Ask your questions and also use the search function on the site as most beginner questions have already been asked.

A good start is the FAQ page www.tarantulas.co.za/forum/31-help/29288...ntly-asked-questions give it a shot
After that try go through some of the most common taratulas in the hobby tarantulas.co.za/top-tarantulas/100-viewed this will help you learn some scientific names as we try use those rather than the common names. It helps identify the species much easier.

Just to get you started your new family member is a Brachypelma albopilosum (Curlyhair) :happy:

Welcome I too got involved after buying my son a T... Now waiting for him go get old enough to breed them and make some cash on the side whilst enjoying the hobby... For me this is how I instill business skills onto my kids.

I too started with 1 b.albopilosum about 9 months ago, now on 23 T's and loving them!
