Hey guys

You may remember the furor a few months back when the new invasive species lists were published with the commonest T's in the industry all listed as undesirable, destroy-on-sight, nasty invasive organisms with absolutely no scientific evidence to back it up?

Well, while this may have gone back to the drawing board it hasn't actually gone away, and my colleagues at the Department of Zoology and Entomology at Tukkies have been approached to help SANBI do actual invasive threat assessments of the exotic T's in the country.

Now this could work very much to our advantage, up to now the authorities can actually ban the T's under the "precautionary principle", but with actual scientific data that says these organisms are not a threat in South Africa, there's every chance we may even see an un-banning or permitted list in places like the South Western Cape even.

Of course, there may be T's that do prove to be potentially a problem, but wont it be great to have a list that the powers that be will leave alone?

Anyway, there's the appeal for help to the community, just putting out feelers. Are there any of you guys who would like to help? Particularly breeders and big collectors but any offers of information accepted!

I've attached a provisional list of T's being offered for sale on the internet, please use this as a starting point if you have anything to add and PM me if you have any questions/want to volunteer your assistance.
