I have a few mature/sub adult females, and I need to decide whether or not it is worth breeding them. This thread is designed to get a general idea (from everybody) of what is in and what is out.

I want to know the following:

1) What tarantulas (slings) do you want to see in circulation more? e.g. slings you haven't seen for sale in a while, or slings you want, but don't want to pay hundreds for

2) Which tarantulas are not worth breeding anymore? i.e. let's give them a cool off period until the market settles!

We all want P.metallica communals or Theraposas by the dozen, so you can leave the rare and expensive ones out of your answer

The T that I would love and have not been around for a while is a:

A. Huriana

& Then the T's I would love to breed to get in circulation.

M. Robustum

What T are not viable to breed anymore?
Another debate in my opinion, because of the newr people not knowing the work that goes into it sometimes.
And not willing to pay for a T, the market not growing that much.
You can still breed these if you breed other more wanted T's on a bigger scale to sell with.

That's just my opinion, might be completely wrong here

We need more asian old worlds , as there is not a big variety in SA such as orphanaecus , chilobrachys , haplopelma etc ,(there are a few h.minax females around but never seen slings )

Then again anything will sell if its at the right price , the market is gone down so a lot of prices have dropped
Take borneo blacks for example , slings used to sell at 600ea now 200 ,
P.metallica prices have also dropped ,

Look at H.formosus - starts off with a bang R300ea and in less than 3 months it drops to R50ea!

P.formosa went the same route as well... and C.cyaneopubescens prices are starting to tumble too..

Now, take H.lividum... except for individual offers (usually juvies), I haven't seen slings in the market for a while, and never for less than R250 - I bought mine for R300 almost a year ago!

What about:

B.auratum

H. maculata

S.calceatum

Still a friendly market for them? ... and what would you pay price wise?

I think we could do with more of the above, but here are the ones I want to see more of:

Cyclosternum schmardae

Sphaerobothria hoffmanni (if there are any here at least)

Chilobrachys fimbriatus

Cyclosternum species in general

Brachypelma boehmei (haven't seen these in months)

Brachypelma emelia (ugly as tripe but hey)
