I've been a member for almost a year now an thought I would share a humorous experiences I had since joining almost a year ago, and start another thread that i just know is going to leave me open to a joke or two at my expense( have to keep up with what I started a year ago.)

I had to rehouse two P.regalis that I got as a present from Cerat.

Some back ground for the newer members so that everyone are up to date with the facts, I was only a a newbie to the T hobby when I got these from Cerat and has come a long way since then. I must admit that I have put off rehousing the two of them much longer than I probably should have and I'm sure that he would call me a wuss too for this. But after checking out threads on the forum about rehousing T's that are more difficult to rehouse that the new world T's, and the experiences the owners had and the procedures they followed, I'm very proud that I had very little trouble rehousing the Pokies. I must also admit that after the experience, I would definitely get myself a longer paintbrush and a much longer pair of forceps.

And for those of you that likes getting cracked up by experiences of those of us that are less experiences at keeping the
"T's for the more experienced keepers out there..." here is one for all of you. I even had laugh afterwards, but almost had a hart attack when it happened.

I asked my girlfriend, which are scared senseless of a Daddy long legs, to assist me during the rehouse(Note my first mistake). Rehousing the first pokie happened without incident, but when the second decided that it would rather explore the greater unknown instead of playing along and peacefully enter it new enclosure, I had my hands full. I asked her to hold the tub which I intended to use to trap it if it did try to run... but instead of handing it to me when the little bugger decide to do exactly that which I did plan for... she did exactly what I didn't plan for(Note my second mistake). She toke of and left me right there with nothing to trap the little bugger with. For those of you that aren't pissing themselves enough yet... you cannot image how much negotiation toke place in a very short period of time to convince her that the Pokie is safely "trapped" in the large bin I used during the rehousing for her to step in close enough so I could get a hold of the tub and "with confidence" trap in, to try and further rehouse it. During the ordeal she must have noticed that I was every bit as scared as she was and as you can imagine was reprimanded for this.

Now getting back to being called a wuss(as a joke I'm sure). As mentioned before Cerat(Who is the source of all this and I'd like to believe a friend.) and a lot of the experienced members would have a laugh at my expense and I have also admitted to deserving it... I am sure that although they would not advise "Hard to keep T's for newbies", they would also agree, that if you do all the proper research and do end up getting a "Hard to keep T", and follow all the proper precautions(excluding the nervous assistant) that you might be able to keep them.

All jokes aside, I need to thank Cerat for my two Pokies, and all the experience I got from having them. If it wasn't for a blunder I made almost a year ago, wanting to join the Pokie club , with a B.albopilosum, and a joke by him and Scarab at my expense... I would most probably never had the guts to keep any Pokies and they are now one of my favorite T's. Scarab even started my first thread, Garfields spider(s , to correct my mistake and also promised some pokies to start me of as an aspiring member of the Pokie Club. I have not yet had the honor of visiting him and Frootbat, although they have contributed to my knowledge of T's more than they could ever know. I have also made a Typo in a past thread( Help with project ) which left me embarrassed afterwards and allowed another joke at my expense. I know that a visit to them is inevitable if you are a member of the T society for long enough and cannot wait for the change to see those famed P.metalica's(My favourite Pokies) and the rest of their collection.

Thank you to all of you and all those I didn't mention(just as important as those I did mention) for the knowledge and help I got form you Gays and Gals about T's and feeders in the past year.

My collection has grown to 22 T's in the past year since my first B.albopilosum which I bough at last year's SOS2, and I suspect this year my collection will grow even more in the future. This forum has come a long way in the past year since I became a member, and I am sure all the members are looking forward to where it will go in the next year as much as I am.

@ Garfield: Thanks for that, some people at work now think I am insane, as i nearly did piss myself laughing.

BUT, to be quite honest, this past week I have been rehousing quite a few of my T's with a little more misadventure but less humor I suppose.

A few members on here already have heard this story via whatsapp or bbm, but here goes: I have been keeping exotics for quite some time, this includes really dangerous fauna such as rattlesnakes, West African Gaboon Vipers, Copperheads, Cottonmouth Moccasins and puff adders (yes with permits) to name a few. Although being tagged by some on more than one occasion, none rattled me as much as one of my T's. Its an 11cm P. Irminia aptly called Lucretia. not once have I opened her enclosure without incident, even when feeding. This spider is best described as being heard moving as her feet hit the glass, not seen. I have been bitten 3 times by her too, all 3 times had different effects. On another occasion she run up my arm and into my shirt, coming to a halt VERY close to my nipple....... :pinch: She will be rehoused (hopefully) this afternoon.....

In the past week I have rehoused 3 of my Poecilotheria, two without any issues. The other one is my 13cm P. Fasciata male, which decided to run up my arm, over the side of my face, over my head and hitting the brakes on the back of my neck! After a few cries for help in the house, only to realize I am alone there, I decided to persuade him with a brush from my neck onto my arm and eventually to my hand and into its new enclosure. Once there, I used a lengthened straw (2 pushed into each other), which I normally used with my A. Brocklehursti as she always bit anything that came near, and I doubt biting the straw will break a fang, to check this Fasciata's temperament. It only moved away each time, no threat displays, no biting, nothing.

Hopefully I will have nothing to report this afternoon after rehousing my nemesis "Lucretia". lets hope for the best on that!
And yes call me a WUSS, but that spider makes me really nervous, I find myself already stressing out about it......

Not a T story, or a rehousing story, but reading about Garfield's girlfriend, made me think of an incident last year with a guy I was seeing at the time - He is really freaked out by snakes and spiders, so dating me must have been a challenge.

Anyway, I was feeding my baby carpet python, but she confused my finger for a pinkie - she grabbed hold of my finger instead of the mouse, and wrapper her little body around my hand. Needless to say, the guy freaked out! The first thing he said was (after he stopped running around my room) "Should I cut her head off??!!!" Then he wanted to rush me to my brother's house (boet gave me the snake), so he could get it off. I managed to loosen her grip within a few minutes without much fuss, but he was freaked out for hours! Still makes me laugh when I think about it!

I must say I stressed a bit when I moved my P fasciata's to knew enclosures.
I loosened the lid of the tub, put the whole thing inside the enclosure and with the lid of the enclosure as on as I could get it used the paint brush to convince them out.
