I have a theory that it has nothing to do with foods or diseases.
I mentioned this in one of my post a while back... But I believe this could indeed have something to do with hemolymph, but not because of dehydration, but rather due to a rupture in the spiders hemolymphatic (does that word even exist??) system. Kinda like the brake system in a car. If you get a leak in your hydraulics lowering the hydraulic pressure in the system and you hit brakes, you will feel how your brakes bite and let go, giving a very pronounced shuddering because the brake will clamp and then release at the point where the energy of the turning disc overpowers the force of the weakened brake being applied.
So my theory is that a rupture in the system caused by a fall or simply a "weak spot" in the system that houses the fluid, could be "a" reason for DKS symptoms. Almost like the T has internal bleeding. The fluid is escaping it's "regular" channels, but remains contained in the body.
I can't wait for someone to find a definitive cause for DKS. If that's possible.
Gotcha. I do apologize if I (partly) misunderstood. Common sense has its limits, I agree, it is only applied when a lack of an alternative exists. (By me anyway).

I'm no expert on this topic, but I'm sure that terantulas would have a mechanism to controll the homeostatic calcium levels within the body, suggesting that excess calcium would be expelled from the body( probably along with waste products). the problem is that there is little information out there on the mecanisms involved in calcium level regulation in arthropod hemolymph, if the problem exists of too high or low calcium levels it could possibaly be due to the absence or malfunction of hormones that regulate the calcium levels.
so i guess that calcium inbalance might not have a direct effect om the DKS syndrome, it would very possibly have serious adverse effects on tarantula health, and that this inbalance would not be a direct result of the quantative calcium intake of the t, but rather directly related to the malfunction of the mechanisms behind calcium homeostasis.
