My B. smithi is impssible, it could be that no one has handled her much but she is pretty feisty, I'm trying to tame her but she's not giving in!

In order to grow you need to overcome your fears of the unknown, the only way to do this is to explore the unknown and make it the known. When the known is too much to handle, pick a starting point and take it one step at a time. Great achievements take time.

I could stand to be corrected, but I have heard that Tarantulas can't be tamed.
They are primal creatures and doubt they have a "memory"

I think perhaps they could get more tolerable of activity around them.
My one G pulchripes was very skittish and I started bothering it more, cleaning it's enclosure, handling it, etc.
Now it is much more manageable and less skittish. It will get out of it's cage and walk over my hands without much effort.

I did a similar exercise with my 2 B albopilosum slings, the one I handled and bothered frequently, while I left the other one pretty much left alone. After a while, the one that I handled often was much calmer. They are a docile specie, but the more docile one would not run in terror when I touch it, while the other one would.

Tango told me that the Avic I bought from her is very docile because it is used to it's cage being cleaned etc.
I was able to pull the exuvium straight from her nest without her even flinching. So it IS very calm and very easy to care for.

I do however understand that each tarantula has a different personality, so it might just be a coincidence or I am reading too much into this. You never know.
