Here is Version 1.0

I've been doing some testing through the night and this tank maintains a humidity of between 65% and 75% in a completely empty tank! I put the tank in a warm place, cold place and windy place, and the humidity stays in that region! Excellent! I also put it into a humid environment and it easily reaches 85%. I brightened up the LCD display in photoshop so it's a bit clearer.



The glass is all 3mm and curently fits so well that it just locks in place, but I will be adding a 2 part magnetic latch which I will silicone in place. The metal part on the glass door and the magnetic part inside the tank. NO sling will escape.

I am thinking version 1.1 will be a deeper so that the area for peat and tank decorations is a perfect square, or in other words has the same amount of ground area as a tank without the reservoir.

But for now, I have 5 Avicularia versicolor that are going to put these tanks to the test.

Thanks theex and Seven. @theex, yes, a good idea, I am trying to plan a removable reservoir just how you explained, something that can even be slid out on the side and be quickly replaced. Something practical always comes up.

Also sorry cascade I forgot to answer that for a plug to close a water hole there are plenty of random rubber and plastic fitting available all over the place that one can choose to use, and then just make the drainage holes the right size for the plug to fit. Hydraulic and pneumatic and kitchen supply companies have all sorts of goodies to look at.

The good part is that these reservoirs wont hold a lot of pressure, so a decent plug will do the trick and prevent leaking.

What sizes will you make?
If you decide to create a terrestrial version for species like Brachypelma, you can put me down for 1 in a size that's good for a 3+cm T.
I think this is a GREAT tank idea and I can't wait till you start production!

PS. I definitely think that having the water dish removable is a must!

LOL, I never actually meant them for production, but if people really want them we can make a plan. They will all be made for my by PetStop, so I'll speak to them and see if they will be willing to make for everyone ok?

A terrestrial version will be super easy to make, but as far as size, anything goes, we will just take the designs and scale them upwards to work for whatever the size and species.

I can imagine a good terrestrail enclosure with a good reservoir being a very good solution for the Theraphosa blondi's and T.apophysis etc that almost require swamp conditions - but mould might be less of a problem, I would love to test and see what happens.
