That is one of the most severe bites Ive seen. Did this guy survive? The pain must have been so bad that you just pass out. People that keep hots (inc me) know that the puff adder is probably the most dangerous to keep in a cage because of it's lightning fast strike and unpredictability. If you ever take the chance to put your hand in there you need to see more of these pics! I was going to get an adult male puff adder but think that it's a really bad idea.
They are awesome creatures though. Much cooler just seeing them in the wild!

@ Legion, a hotly debated topic in herp circles is also the one of hots vs giants...

With a hot you at least have the opportunity to get treatment, with the giants, you are the treat...

To me it all boils down to respect, caution, and safety. Both the animal, and the keeper's.
