You see, Gringo, they're all still dogs! These tarantulas are hybrids. They shouldn't ever be crossed, especially being endangered and potentially endangered species.

I never said I agreed with cross breeding.

Even if you do cross breed a T you will still have a T albeit without a scientific name. Just think of the pro.. You get to name the breed... looking at the pics I'd call it a "Bohemian Fire-leg" just for fun.

Every living species on the planet is a cross bread hybrid through the process of natural selection. Just because modern man stumbled upon them and decided to give them scientific names won't stop the ever changing process of natural cross breeding and survival.

If you were to stand on this planet in 500 000 000 years from now long after humans have become extinct you will see that life goes on and species do interbreed and most of the species in 500 000 000 years from now will not be recognisable to our modern human eye. What scientific names will we call them by? Runtalisus Hybridusus Weakerlingus

Hybridization of tarantulas in the wild probably does not occur frequently, and if it did occur the offspring would probably be sterile, if it works in the same way as mammals. If this is the case then you probably would not find a large quantity of these hybridized tarantulas running around in the wild.

People should stop playing around with stuff they know little about, just to try and make a cool looking tarantula. Let nature take its course, if the spiders were supposed to interbreed, then over a long period of time it would occur.

I see the hybridization of tarantulas as being wrong, people are messing up the gene pool of the hobby and some unsuspecting person will buy this hybridized tarantula not knowing what it really is. It might not even live long and might put the person of keeping tarantulas as he probably paid a lot for the tarantula and then it died for no reason.

That's my view.

If it is meant to be it will come to pass. Sad but True.

I'm a realist and very much believe in letting nature do as it will, if these tarantulas saw fit to cross in the wild... well then that's great, it was obviously what nature intended. But I can't really believe there is anything very natural about purposefuly placing 2 individuals from different species into a cage together with the intent to breed them. To polute a pristine gene pool just seems like a waste, if not a biological crime against tarantulas and keepers worldwide. Especially counting the fact that B. Smithi and B. Boemhei are so stunningly beautiful in their unaltered forms. I think the saying: "If it isn't broken why fix it" applies quite well here :)

The Lord's Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us...
