So tarantulas.co.za has teamed up with the ADU and have started working on the Baboon Spider Atlas.

Description of the project:

The goal of the this project is to give people the opportunity to contribute to research and conservation of Baboon Spiders in Southern Africa. By contributing photos of spiders you see in the wild you will help to build our knowledge of the species present in the region, their distribution ranges, and the threats they face from humanity.

Using the SpiderMAP Virtual Museum at the Animal Demography Unit in Cape Town, this project follows in the footsteps other highly successful citizen scientist projects like the Frog, Reptile, and Butterfly Atlases. This project will take baboon spider conservation to a new level. Submit your photos today!

I only know there are supposed to be some in Botswana, which is about 80 km's from me. Can do a field trip there, if I knew where to start looking.
