Yes, the Western Cape NatCon do not tolerate Tarantulas because of the World Heritage status of it's Fauna and Flora. Other provinces are more "tolerant", but do not overstep or push your luck with the spiders listed below/above. If ANY of the listed spiders are in your collection, ALL your spiders will be confiscated, and not ONLY the illegal ones.

PLEASE leave our indiginous spiders alone, firstly for their own protection and secondly, and far less important, for your own good.

Aside from this the rest of SA is open to T keeping, apart from those on the list mentioned below.

Of course Scarab. I am far too fond of my T's to risk losing them all by being caught with any of the below listed species in my collection.

Even though I REALLY want an OBT and it is not a local species, I still respect the rules and regulations that govern the keeping of these species with the others.

I respect that the local fauna is part of our conutries beauty and that if people were to take what they wanted here and there sooner or later there would be none left for future generations to enjoy.

Thanks guys, I truly appreciate the info, it helps to be informed.
I think it is important to know these things as it will also influence other tarantula keepers and we want to be able to keep these lovely, wonderful, interesting creatures.
It is very sad to hear about the Balfouri and P. metallica, I can really say I am shocked !!!!!!! We cannot lose them.
