Hi guys. some of my beloved T's have the reached the 8 and 10cm mark. they are as follows, G.rosea, P.cambridgei,H.maculata, and L.difficilis. how do i sex them from a molt? and i have heard that the G.rosea can breed from 8 cm, is this true? how do i know when it will be mature?

it is easy to see if a male has reached maturity as he will develop tibial spurs (hooks) on his two front legs (excluding Poecilotheria Sp.) and his pedipalps will develop "boxing gloves", you will also start to notice his lack of appetite and sperm webs around his tank.

The general rule of thumb is that a female is breed-able from about 75% of the full size. (Citation from another thread, i forget the thread title, maybe someone else can confirm)

your L. difficilis still has a way to go as far as size is concerned, at 10cm i wouldnt rush to find a mate.

If you can get a good quality macro shot of the exuvia, post it on the forum and we'll be able to sex it for you!

Its not just Poecilotheria that lacks the tibial spurs. There are quite a few genera/species, including Heteroscodra maculata(which panda owns).

Some genera/species will breed at smaller than 75% as listed in the thread below.
