I know this is an old topic but I recently got a Venus fly trap and now I'd like to get more variety. We don't get them in Witbank and I was lucky to get the one I have. Does anyone know where I can find more carnivorous plants for sale in JHB/PTA? I'd like to get some the next time we go that direction but I don't want to spend the whole day looking for a place that might have.

Lifestyle Nurseries also had quite a few different kinds available. They also sell bottled soft water. You can replicate this by putting unsoaked driftwood into a bucket of water - also good water for keeping discus by the way .

Yes, at Lifestyle there is a separate stand just for Carnivorous plants. The soft water they sell is called "Venus Joos", and no, I'm not kidding.. That's what it says on the label!

Anyone interrested in growing CP's should invest in the book "The Savage Garden" by Peter D'Amato. It's available on Loot.co.za and a 'bible' when it comes to growing CP's.

Also, if you're prepared to spend the same amount of effort you put in growing a 1cm T to 10cm, you can try growing CP's from seed. Register on Bid or Buy and get hold of a guy called "seeds & all". Among thousands different seeds you'll find a fair variety of different CP's. There was some other guy as well that doesn't quite have the variety but that you can order live plants as well; expensive, but no more than buying an adult T.
