i would like to know if anyone uses the aqua gel as substitute for water? does it breath bacteria?
im getting mixed info. is it good for the t or water is better? help plz

As with most things when you can't find the difference between anecdote and fact, you have to decide for yourself.

On the one hand you have potentially harmful gel, on the other, just, well water.

It's easy. If you had to combine the Hydrogen and Oxygen yourself to make water or squeeze rocks it would be a different matter, but it's not, so go with water.

(You have to water the gel or crystals as well, so why bother with them?)

I have also done some research on this topic in the past and have found that the gel is not the safest.

However
I only use the gel when my t's have egg sacs as it a sure way that they dont drown the sac ... Yes I have had the misfortune of loosing an Avic sac to a water bowl.

Gels can cause issues, its a breeding ground for bacteria, maybe the new gels don't.

Why do you want to use gel when you can use water which is the best in my opinion and i guarantee 99% if not 100% of the best tarantula guys on this forum use plain old God given aqua!!

1) Water gel costs money not much but if you have +100 spiders its not viable.
2) Water gel gets dirty fast, 80% of the time your spider will deposit its poo and eaten food into the water bowl, therefor it needs to be cleaned on a regular basis water gel again will cost you money, water is almost free.

To put it plain keep it simple with you spiders, water is natural, water is made for animals, water is best It may seem cool and fancy to use water gel and you may think your spider likes it..... i beg to differ..
