Hi all. I just want confirmation with regard to the prohibition of keeping tarantulas from the Ceratogyrus species in Gauteng. is it still illegal? I have found info supporting the "captive bred yes, wild caught no" opinion as well as info stating that absolutely NO keeping, trading and transport of these Tarantulas.

Also, according to Section 67(1) of the national conservation act: Biodiversity A,Geniculata, B.Albopilosum, B.Smithi etc is part of the "alien species"...Are these then not allowed as well?

I've been keeping T's for about 4 years now and I've never worried about legislation until now...

In a nutshell:

South of the Oranje: EVERYTHING is a no-no. Don't mess with Cape Nature!

North of the Oranje: Local genera (Ceratogyrus, Pterinochilus, Harpactira, etc.) are a no-no.

Pelinobius muticus are perfectly legal to keep :drunk: :thumbsup:

If I'm not mistaken, you are also allowed to keep Harpactirella overdijki
