Love my H.lividum when I can see it ... They like tons of substrate, make sure to leave enough space above ground for all the substrate they'll pull out of the ground. Don't put any heavy decorations in the enclosure the T could burrow under. I a plastic bowl upside down on the floor in the middle of my enclosure covered over with substrate, which forces the T to burrow around the sides making it more visible.

When mine was a sling I wouldn't see it for weeks on end. To the point I actually set up a webcam and a red light to record motion in the tank.

The difference between utility and utility plus beauty is the difference between telephone wires and the spider web.

I would recommend putting it in an arboreal enclosure. Increases the chances of it burrowing near the sides. Did this with my one, and you could see her all the time through her webbing.

I have never seen 1 upclose, hope to see 1 at the expo, but looking at what is said on this thread, even if they are there I will be lucky to see it.

Yup, thanks Monalishh! And I do hope to come and visit you soon.

I have also heeded the call for pics... here the new sling in it's "new-gen" enclosure LOL! I am basically trying out whether a burrowing species will use a tunnel network that is already there, one which still lets us view the creature, rather than dig itself into a hole where you never see it. The next step is to build a more elaborate tunnel network all around the tank at different levels using sliced piping and silicone to see if it will be used by the T.

Enjoy :)

The spider needs more vertical space in my opinion. The way the tank is setup you are going to have one very stressed spider. Rather try the tunnel system that you are using, in a tank filled with substrate with the "tunnel" running vertically.
