Id suggest you start off with these 3 P.ornata, P.fasciata and P.regalis these are your most common in S.A. and reach over 18cm easily which makes them very large Ornamentals. They also your so called very cheap Ornamentals but don't let the "cheap" fool you into thinking they not great these 3 are unbelievably good looking when mature... and will blow you away ask any one who has these!!!! id also suggest you buy a minimum of 5 of the same species at a time to insure to get a female reason being is Ornamentals have a high male to female ratio so you will most probably end up with more males....
