Newbie saying hi! was created by Justin
Hi everyone, just wanted to say thanks for the invaluable information this site has already provided.

I am generally very freaked out by spiders (stemming from a childhood "hide and seek" incident) but have recently become fascinated by the giants that are Tarantulas.

Yesterday I bought my first T, a Lasiodora parahybana of about 2cm. I love the little guy already.

Already having thoughts of getting another more visually attractive specimen but will wait until the LP outgrows his quarters before making another purchase.

I hope to be able to contribute here in the future as my knowledge of the hobby expands, the last 24hrs has been one hell of a learning experience.

Welcome and enjoy your new friend. Good job on learning the scientific name.

Trust me you are fooling yourself with just keeping one tarantula. Your crickets will be a waste :)

Get yourself 3-4 more maybe one of these:
Brachypelma albopilosum (Curlyhair)
Brachypelma smithi (Mexican Red Knee)
Grammostola rosea (Chilean Rose)
Grammostola pulchripes (Chaco Golden Knee)

All are available and very affordable.

Enjoy the site!

Welcome to the Forum.

I think we need to start Introduction thread for people who "wore" scared of spiders.
Most people who are scared of spiders, tend to find tarantulas and lose the fear of spiders completely .
And there collection grows faster than none scared people!

Enjoy the site! B)

Welcome! Fairly new here myself. Lots of knowledge and experience floating around and I'm sure you'll have tons of fun picking it up.

I too said that 1 will be quite enough to start off with. Started with 1 B.albopilosum about 5 months ago. My collection now stands on 17 T's and loving them :woohoo:

Good luck!

Sometimes I think my sole purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others
