What is the cheapest way to take pictures or examine a young molt? Will those USB microscopes work that they sell for R400+, as I noticed that on ebay they sell USB microscopes that have a 400zoom with 2MegaPixel? Or will I need a decent lab microscope?

Those USB microscopes will do just fine and you can even take pics and save it on your computer.
